Orchestra Arranging
by Robert Benson

Entertainers who perform on cruise ships always need orchestra arrangements, if they plan on getting booked as a featured entertainer in the ship's main showrooms. Also, most corporate acts generally use small orchestra (10-12 musicians) arrangements. To write an orchestra arrangement for you, I charge by the instrumental part.

price: $70.00 per orchestral part

For example, a 3-5 minute small orchestra arrangement for 2 trumpets, trombone, 3 woodwinds, violins (one part), violas (one part), cello(s) (one part), piano, bass, drums (12 parts) will cost $840.00. This price includes a complete score plus all 12 separate parts. A vocal part is an additional $70.00.

A typical cruise ship-type arrangement of trumpet, trombone, alto & tenor sax, piano, bass & drums will cost $490.00

A piano/vocal arrangement is $200.00

Electronic Arranging

I do the scoring and editing using Emagic Logic, and then we record it on my equipment ($40.00/hour), or at a professional recording studio. This type of arranging is for making a recording, rather than printing instrumental parts.

My charge (not including recording studio cost) is $40.00 per track.
A moderately complex arrangement of 18 tracks will cost $720.00.
A simple arrangement of 5 tracks will cost $200.00.
My recording studio fee is $50.00/hour.
